After so famously declaring that claims of a future EU army were wrong and dangerous, Nick Clegg is now calling for the UK to deepen its ties with one!

Talking on LBC radio, Nick Clegg said that the UK should align with the EU to “safeguard our own security” because of what he calls Donald Trump’s “isolationist’ foreign policies.

So, the ex Lib Dem leader wants the UK to join what he has himself previously declared as a fictitious and ‘fantasy’ army.

During the pre EU referendum debates with Nigel Farage, Nick Clegg maintained that there was no plan for an EU army and that any such claims were a fantasy and dangerous (see video).

Now that the UK has voted to leave the European Union and the grand EU army plans have leaked to the British public, there’s no apology from Clegg, just more of the old we must get further engaged with the EU etc.

You couldn’t make it up, could you?

I say, let’s follow the example of Nigel Farage and engage as quickly and as fully as we can with Donald Trump!
