UPDATED: The one-way road shambles in Dinah’s Hollow has now found its way into the national press!
The daily mail is now reporting on the heavy lorries now continually clogging up the local road that is totally inadequate to carry such traffic.
“Cars heading through the pretty hamlet face delays of up to an hour whenever a hapless trucker gets stuck negotiating oncoming traffic and tight bends.” Reports the Mail.
This can be put firmly at the door of the council officials who have imposed a one way system on the A350/C13 routes for heavy lorries, which forces these large vehicles to try and navigate the narrow windy roads of Melbury Abbas.
Some of this results in lengthy delays for all traffic as well as damage being caused to the properties of the hapless inhabitants. Even Tesco now refuses to deliver into the area due to safety concerns.
There is even a chalk tally board there that the locals keep up to date to show the problems the current road strategy (if you can call it that) causes!
This is time for a re-think and immediate action by the County Council to prevent further delays and problems. This one-way system must be withdrawn and the heavy traffic put on the most suitable road, the A350.

Now this is appearing in The Sun newspaper. But all discussion on this complete mess appears to have been put on hold due to general election ‘Purdah’, but what happens to drivers and residents and their properties in the meantime?
