There are two good pieces of news for the Shaftesbury Eastern development (video).
The first is that the large piece of land ear-marked for public use is due to be handed over to the town council in the next few months. The land includes both the grassed area at the front and most of the fenced in area behind it.
The town council has already conducted a preliminary consultation to gather the thoughts and ideas of local residents on what they would like to see.
But now that council ownership of the plot is only months away, there are plans for much more consultation so as to develop this area into something the local community will be both proud of and use to the maximum.
The second piece of good news here, is that there is interest in the retail unit in the square from what I believe is a convenience store.
This information has been passed to me by several sources, but as yet there are no firm timescales or any idea as to the prospective occupier.
Finally, please do watch out for information from the town council on the public area consultation in the coming weeks and months.
